The publishers, 1988–2003

1988–2003 · Seven frames by Argyris Dinopoulos from his years in private radio, private television and the newspapers.

Argyris Dinopoulos, although he began his journalistic career at ERT, was «a child of private radio» and of «private television»

He was at (what was then) SKAI 100,3 FM Stereo from the station's first day of operation in 1988 and also, in 1993, from the first day of SKAI's television, before going, in 1994, to the television of Antenna.

In parallel, from 1988, he worked at the newspaper «Απογευματινή» until 1993, when he went, for a short period, to «Καθημερινή», and later, in 1999, also for a short period, to «Βήμα»

So he came to know the owners of the television stations from the very beginning of private television and radio.

With Yiannis Alafouzos and with Minos Kyriakou he had relations of mutual regard, without being one of the journalists inside their close circle.

Panos Karagiannis, publisher of «Απογευματινή», was, in any case, «a father» to everyone working at the paper.

Argyris Dinopoulos, however, had the good fortune to know a «legend» of the newspapers as well, the journalist Alekos Filiopoulos, creator, in 1981, of «Έθνος» in its tabloid form.

At the end of 1989, when Alekos Filiopoulos left «Έθνος», he published the weekly Sunday newspaper «Δημοσιογράφος», and Argyris Dinopoulos, on the recommendation of Kostas Chountas, worked with him.

«Δημοσιογράφος» was a short-lived publication (Alekos Filiopoulos died, after all, in 1991) but in the course of their brief collaboration Argyris Dinopoulos learned a great deal from Alekos Filiopoulos.

Among them his («Cassandra-like») «prophecy» (in 1990) that in Greece all the media would pass into the hands of «a powerful few», foretelling the «end of journalism»
