1991–2007 · Two devastating earthquakes and two documentaries — from Erzincan and Nicomedia to Istanbul and the Greeks of Smyrna.

Argyris Dinopoulos's first journalistic assignment in Turkey was, as he describes it himself, "on Good Friday, 7 April 1991", reporting for SKAI 100.4 FM: in central Istanbul "a Turk set fire to a Greek tourist coach (of Angelos Tours), with the result that 33 Greek passengers were burned alive".

On 13 March 1992 he covered the devastating earthquake at Erzincan for SKAI 100.4 FM, and on 17 August 1999, for Antenna, the one at Nicomedia — İzmit.

In 2005, when Turkey's European prospect was still a geopolitical given, he made the documentary "Turkey at the Critical Crossroads" for Antenna. And in 2007, when the uproar was at its height over the "crowding of the Greeks on the Smyrna waterfront in 1922" — as the school textbooks then put it — he made "Smyrna, 85 Years after the Asia Minor Catastrophe" for ERT.
