    Armenia — Spitak and Leninakan

    ERT. By military C-130 via Tbilisi, accompanying men of EMAK on their first mission abroad.

  2. 1989

    Romania — the fall of Ceaușescu

    ERT. In Bucharest in December, a few months after the Berlin Wall came down.

  3. 1989

    Cameroon — the Greek community

    ERT. In December, with the photographer Giannis Stergiou, at the invitation of the Greek community.

  4. 1991

    Iraq — the Gulf war

    ERT and SKAI 100.4 FM. The Gulf war, January to March — the first of three assignments to Iraq.

  5. 1991

    Slovenia — the "Ten-Day War"

    SKAI 100.4 FM. In Belgrade from March, and in Slovenia in June — the beginning of Yugoslavia's dissolution.

    Albania — the first multiparty elections

    ERT and SKAI 100.4 FM. The beginning of a coverage that lasted thirty-four years, down to the elections of 2025.

    Turkey — Istanbul, Erzincan, Nicomedia

    SKAI 100.4 FM and Antenna. The arson attack on a Greek coach in Istanbul in April 1991, and the two devastating earthquakes.

    Croatia — Krajina and Vukovar

    SKAI 100.4 FM. Knin in April, Osijek and Vukovar in November, after the city fell.

    Moscow — the coup against Gorbachev

    SKAI 100.4 FM. In Moscow for the attempted coup of 19 August against Mikhail Gorbachev.

    United States — three months at CNN

    ERT. Three months at CNN headquarters, in a group of ten journalists drawn from around the world.

  11. 1992–1995

    Bosnia — the siege of Sarajevo

    ERT, then SKAI and Antenna. He entered the besieged city in July 1992 and returned until the war ended; his first book came out of the same experience.

    Egypt — the Cairo earthquake

    SKAI 100.4 FM. The earthquake of 12 October 1992 — the first of three assignments to Egypt.

  13. 1993

    India — the Maharashtra earthquake

    SKAI TV. Overland from New Delhi to Maharashtra, with the cameraman Kostas Papadopoulos and the sound recordist Tasos Dimopoulos.

  14. 1994

    Mexico — the Chiapas uprising

    SKAI TV. At New Year 1994, in Chiapas, for the "Zapatista" uprising against the Mexican government and the signing of NAFTA.

    Australia — the bushfires

    SKAI TV. In January, travelling on from Mexico.

    Rwanda — in the shadow of the genocide

    Antenna. The summer of 1994.

    Argentina & Chile — "The Greeks of Latin America"

    Antenna. In October, at the invitation of the Greek communities, on the life of the diaspora in the two countries.

    Odessa — "The Hellenism of Odessa"

    Antenna. With his colleague Korina Xypolitidou, on the occasion of the Foundation of the Hellenic World opening in the city.

    Egypt — the Siwa oasis

    Antenna. In January, at Siwa — Liana Souvaltzi's announcement about the tomb of Alexander the Great, and its official refutation.

    Aigio — the earthquake

    One of the devastating earthquakes he covered — this time inside Greece.

    Imia — on the brink of war

    Antenna. At Imia in January 1996, and again thirty years later, for OPEN TV.

  22. 1996

    Egypt — the attack on the Greek tourists

    Antenna. The attack of 18 April 1996, in which eighteen Greek tourists were killed — the third and last of his assignments to Egypt.

  23. 1996–2007

    Cyprus — the occupied north

    Antenna. Repeated assignments to the occupied north; the occasion was the deaths of Tasos Isaak and Solomos Solomou in August 1996.

    The Aegean — the islanders of the barren line

    Antenna. The documentary «Οι ακρίτες του Αιγαίου» after the Imia crisis, and the reports from the frontier islands.

    Iraq — Baghdad before the war

    Antenna. Kofi Annan's negotiations with Saddam Hussein over access for international observers to the Iraqi arsenal.

    Cyprus — the documentary "ELDYK 1974"

    Antenna. The testimony of ELDYK's soldiers about the battles of 1974 — from his television series "On the Road".

    Kenya — the Öcalan affair

    Antenna. On assignment in Nairobi, February 1999.

    Serbia — the NATO bombing

    Antenna. From Belgrade, Novi Sad, Kragujevac and Niš.

    Skopje — the clashes at Tetovo

    Antenna. In March 2001, and again in 2004.

    Genoa — the demonstrations at the G8 summit

    Antenna. In July, with the cameraman Kostas Liliabtis — among the last of his big foreign assignments.

    In Syria after the fall of the Assad regime — with the same cameraman who was with him in Afghanistan, twenty-three years earlier.
