1992 · Three months of television-journalism seminars at CNN headquarters in Atlanta.

In 1992, for three months — March, April and May — Argyris Dinopoulos attended television-journalism seminars at CNN's headquarters in Atlanta, in the United States, as a journalist of ERT. He was chosen from among journalists across the world working at television networks — ERT among them — that took part in producing CNN's World Report.

It was Ted Turner's own idea, at a moment when CNN had acquired international standing after covering the Gulf war of 1991. That war had already been recorded in the history of journalism as the first war carried "live on television" — by analogy with the Vietnam war, which is regarded as the first "television war".

The seminar group was a small one, just ten people. Argyris Dinopoulos — who at that time was working in Greece for SKAI 100.4 FM and also for the newspaper Apogevmatini alongside ERT — noticed that "everywhere in CNN there were computer terminals". In those years, in almost every Greek newspaper, journalists were still using typewriters. On his return he bought his first computer, with Volkswriter as its built-in software.
