1991 · On assignment in Moscow for the attempted coup against Mikhail Gorbachev.

From Moscow, as correspondent for SKAI 100.4 FM, Argyris Dinopoulos covered the attempted coup of 19 August 1991 against Mikhail Gorbachev.

The Russian parliament — the "White House" — was then the building around which resistance to the plotters formed, and it came through those days undamaged. Two years later, in October 1993, in the confrontation between Boris Yeltsin and the Supreme Soviet, the same building was shelled and caught fire. The three photographs below are from those days — archive images, not his own photographs.
